Sunday

Currently on my screen:
Tarsem's The Fall. As a stay-at-home and work-at-home mother, I virtually never see films in the theater anymore. But that's OK, because my husband is a master at finding the best of the best online.
The Fall is my favorite film that I've downloaded this year, and will (I'm quite certain) remain on my list of the Best Things Ever Created by Mankind for decades to come.
If you haven't seen it, look it up, download it, rent it, see it at all costs and with utmost alacrity. It's transcendent.

Currently on my bedstand:
I listened to this book on my cassette player (yes, way back when they had cassette players in cars) many years ago while traversing the plain states solo in my old Honda. I was reminded of it recently, and, after downloading it to my iPod, was delighted to find that it has not been diminished with the passage of time. This book has to do with baseball...although it is not about baseball per se. I do not watch sports. My family does not watch sports. And yet, I adore this book. It's kind of brilliant.

Looking forward to:
Audrey Niffenegger's next book, out soon. I've heard good things. I can't wait.

And, in the film department:
No words needed here, except: BRING IT ON!!!!!!!

I've just rediscovered your blog. Really a very lovely very personal effort. Hope you realize your writing and language choices are just as powerful and beautiful as your drawings.

Yoli, yes, and Alice!!

Stacie, as always, we have a lot in common. It does stick to your bones, doesn't it?

Anon, thank you! I love to write, and don't have as much time as I'd like now that I'm no longer (or at least rarely these days) in journalism. But parenting my daughter is tradeoff enough for me!

We saw The Fall when we were still living in NYC and we both just loved it. Such a beautiful story and so gorgeously expressed!
