Tuesday

We spent the past few days in NYC for the children's fashion tradeshows, and for (coincidentally) a little family vacation, and to spend some much needed times with friends old and new on the East Coast. This is Q and I on our first day in our beautiful perch over Rivington, excited for a week of fun in the city.
Mike hard at work on his laptop 16 floors above the lower East side. He was along for the ride, but had to log in for some remote work hours.

Friday

My mother sent these pictures from Prague.
Fabulous weather, it seems!

Monday

Starting off the week with a couple of photos my mum sent on her iPhone from Turkey...look at those boots!
Looking forward to seeing the rest of her photos...a little vicarious trip!

Speaking of vicarious travel, stop by Pirouette Blog today to see a lovely little mention of our blog.
...and while on the topic of frivolous pursuits, it seems like a good time to post this photo of fanciful shoes that my mother took in Buenos Aires. Very unlike my mum to photograph shoes, but like I said I'm a big fan of her new journalistic street-style photography. Few people get to travel quite as much as she does, and it's delightful to travel along virtually by way of her photos.

Sunday

Taking a short break from my photos to post some amazing pictures that my mother (who's fly fishing in Argentina) took last week in the San Telmo, Buenos Aires' oldest "barrio".
My mother has never really shot people before, aside from the occasional guide or friend. She has always focused on landscape and wildlife. So it blew me away to see the amazing photos she took with her new Leica.
San Telmo is known for its street markets...
...and tango parlors.

I'm terribly impressed by my mum's first venture into cultural photography, and I can't wait to see what else she brings back with her!

Saturday

As a little treat today...a few more of my mum's beautiful photos of Africa.

Wednesday

This is me on a horse named Daisy in front of a place called the Honeymoon Cabin in the mountains of Victoria. This was several years back when I was doing some adventure travel writing...I know, tough job, but somebody's gotta!
On this wonderful trip, I got to ride headlong through the dense, dappled forests on horseback, crossing deep creeks at a dead gallop and leaping fallen trees. I got to sleep alone in a sheephearder's cabin with a tin roof and no electricity, and shower in a makeshift lean-to under the eucalyptus branches, with no one around to see. I got to fly fish from the banks of quiet brown rivers among tree ferns taller than my head, and watch the wild white cockatoos startle out of the hedges at sunset. Once, I even got to emcee a dirt bike ralley...but that's another story for another time.
