Monday

So, I wanted to make this faux-fur poncho for Q for the fall season. I am for some reason all about ponchos this year. But as I was making the pattern, I was afraid of making it too narrow in the shoulders - thus restricting her movement and making it unwearable. If there's one cardinal rule for Q and her clothing, it's that nothing be too fussy or too binding. She must be able to play sports, if need be, in pretty much anything she's wearing.

So concerned about not making it too narrow, I made it much too large for her in the end...
...so big, in fact, that it turned out to be just about the right size for me.
Hence, I have a new furry poncho, which has turned out to be just the right thing for transitioning from warm, indian-summer days into the evenings that cool off so quickly this time of year.

I am a person who gets cold easily and fast (I had chemotherapy for a year in my 20s, and it burned out my veins pretty well, which means my circulation isn't great). So my ponchos, hats and wristwarmers have turned into staples this season.
And, while we're on the subject of style...my husband's new glasses. He probably won't be happy about my posting these photos, but I am just so proud of what cool frames he picked out this time around. He has his own unique, cobbled-together sense of style, but he's one of those people who stays very true to his own aesthetic, and I am constantly surprised by what a spot-on job he does of it, for such a casual, t-shirt sort of man.

ps - yes, I will re-design and re-sew the fur poncho for Q...the very next time I have a free evening. Haha!

Maia that poncho is beautiful!

You have lived through so much. I am glad you are around for all of us to enjoy and to be the best Mommy any little kid could have.

The man has it going on with those glasses, very sexy!

Such a pretty poncho, Maia. And Q... well, let's just say that I can't wait to see her style as she grows.

Isn't it hilarious how some never agree to having their photos posted up. But they still look absolutely stunning in them. I know of course Q would never mind though :P

Ne remuez pas le couteau dans la plaie. En France ils manquent de *gasolina.*

Dont put the knife in the wond (?), in France they are missing petrole !!!

Yes, the Gulf shirt has turned a bit obnoxious lately...he stopped wearing it for a while during the oil spill in our own gulf because it seemed inappropriate, and I am very aware of the petrol issues in France! Actually the shirt is a replica of a logo from the '70s I think.

What a sweet poncho - so stylish. How funny my husband has the exact same t-shirt as your husband. Small world.
