It was not especially easy for me to find this book, here in the US...
but I was determined.
And so very excited when it finally showed up on my doorstep.
The diary of a small, independent Japanese furniture designer.
So beautifully conceived and shot.
I knew when I first saw it mentioned that I had to own this book.
In the end, I found it on the website of this bookstore, which we had visited in San Francisco.
"Lost" fans, please try not to get too freaked-out by the polar bear references.
These guys are just fond of polar bears, OK?

I tried to purchase it too Maia but it said it was out of stock. I am glad you have it. I purchased instead a children's book from Amazon in France by Bruno Munari. Made in 1945, it depicts animals who dream of being other animals.

I had never seen this book living in Japan but it looks great I must go check it in the book store tomorrow!
I don't know if you know but "SHIROKUMA" means "Polar bear" and "SHA" is like "company" so they must really love polar bear :)

hiki, i didn't know the word for polar bear, so I didn't realize that about the name. Maybe if you find the book you can tell me how they got their fascination with polar bears, since I can't read Japanese! I think the book just came out recently.
