Shave and a Haircut:

On a recent snowy morning...
...we headed out as a family for a short walk to Tennyson, our local "main street", so that M. could have his hair cut.

For months (years?) now, he has been telling me that I really need to come along on one of his sporadic trips to the local barber. And, bring the camera.

Oh, was he ever right!
This place is straight out of another era, and - on a snowy day like this - I can't help harking back to Frank Capra's "It's A Wonderful Life".
This place has some magical powers. It will transport you.
One of my favorite things was the vintage Spiderman comic left out on a waiter's chair, for the kids. Another was the wall full of framed images of our neighborhood circa 1890s.
Toss in a redheaded boy in a striped apron, and it's classic Rockwell (Norman, that is. Not Sam).
Q loved the mirrors, and the comics.
And the little redhead was fascinated by M's haircut.
The chairs are so beautiful that they would probably make more on eBay than the barbershop makes in the first quarter. But hey, it's not about the money. It's about the craft.
