Thursday

This is us...before we knew. Before we even had an inkling of how much love could possibly stretch our hearts. July, 2008, Beijing, and in a few days our whole world would change.
Me about to walk in the door of the adoption office in Nanjing, just minutes before we would meet her for the first time.
A rainy day in Nanjing, with a very small and confused Q in her baby bjorn.
So new to one another.

Each and every day, to this day, I'm amazed at how much the heart can still expand.

O dear friend, isn't it amazing how unconditional our love is for our children? I'm so thankful for being a mother, it makes my heart sing every minute of the day.

Q and you two are a match made in heaven.

Have a fab day, dear Maia!

Looking at you three at the start of your lives together is lovely and a little wistful; I wish I had those beautiful memories instead of the blur of exhaustion, fear and grief that constitues our time on Shamian Dao.

But your story IS beautiful, and my heart goes out to you, your husband and your little minx.

FDChief - just so you know, I was SICK as ten dogs on Shamian. I was sicker even than that for several weeks after coming home. And I can't even begin to imagine how freaky it was for Q. So trust me, I know. It was NOT sunshine and roses during those first weeks. It took a while. But, it was SO worth it!!!!

I am so moved to see this post, seeing you holding little Q in a rainy day next to the Qing Huai River. Seeing your smile and thinking how Q's life has changed. Thanks for sharing...
