I'm excited to finally find myself posting our photos of the beautiful Highline park on Manhattan's west side, built from a long-abandoned section of an elevated freight railway...one of the best things to happen to NY in recent history.
I'm looking forward to seeing it in summer, but I have to say that winter did not diminish its beauty (we also had a spectacular January day on which to enjoy it).
I particularly love these deck chairs taht they've attached to a section of the remaining track.
What a beautiful way to literally rise above the hustle and bustle of the city and spend some meditative time enjoying an entirely different perspective.
Is this building not straight off the set of West Side Story?

I love the highline! they did such a great job on that project. Summer is nice but there is no shade so it's actually REALLY hot...
It looks fantastic - what a beautiful place in the midst of the city. There is one just like it in Paris - in the 12th arrondisement - La Promenade Plantee. A modern oasis in an old city.
I'd love to go back to see that one day...

I think this is brilliant and I would so love to see it sometime. I lived in Chelsea for a year or so a long time ago - this would have made life better!
Highline Park is one of my favorite places in the city (that's saying a lot) and this posting makes me miss it so much that my heart breaks. I can't believe we ever left. Oh New York, why are you so expensive?
