Find a happy place...find a happy place...Is it shallow that my happy place tonight is an Hermés window?

The Q is sick today, and I can't tell you how hard it is for me to see her hurting. She had the swine flu last summer, and she didn't seem nearly as miserable as she looked today. You'd think this kind of thing would be a walk in the park after the recoveries from her various cleft surgeries...and it should be. Nevertheless, it never gets easier to see my daughter in pain.

And so I am seeking a happy place tonight, as she sleeps off her fever.
And that happy place happens to be the Upper EastSide of NY circa January.

Oh, and I knew your post made me think of something. Here it is;

This is "A Prayer for My Daughter" by W.B. Yeats.

"Once more the storm is howling, and half hid
Under this cradle-hood and coverlid
My child sleeps on. There is no obstacle
But Gregory's wood and one bare hill
Whereby the haystack- and roof-levelling wind.
Bred on the Atlantic, can be stayed;
And for an hour I have walked and prayed
Because of the great gloom that is in my mind.

I have walked and prayed for this young child an hour
And heard the sea-wind scream upon the tower,
And-under the arches of the bridge, and scream
In the elms above the flooded stream;
Imagining in excited reverie
That the future years had come,
Dancing to a frenzied drum,
Out of the murderous innocence of the sea."

Hoping you are both dancing to a frenzied drum soon.

I'm so sad to read that Q is sick, poor thing...
I wish her a speedy recovery.
I love your pictures of chic UES. Flora & Henri is one of my favorite shop. Their cotton are so great and I can't resist this tiny shop ;-)

I hope little Q and your man recover quickly, your happy place is way too much fun to look at. Cool collages my dear.

I hope Q feels better! It's the worst. And...I'm very OK with shallow if it means Hermes and the upper east side, though I don't ever consider your photo journalism shallow.

Our whole family was hit by a BAD stomach bug last month and we were all OUT! We were practically paralyzed in bed with fever, chills, aches, vomitting, etc. And we felt helpless to help our sick daughter as well. That's the worst feeling in the world! Glad we're ALL ok and healthy now. Hope Q is, too! Cheers~
