Corner View: RepurposedWe have several repurposed things in our home...the most recent of which are these two antique type drawers which my husband's parents gave us when they moved. As we have both been in the journalism trade on and off throughout our careers, typeface drawers have a special place in our hearts. The vintage wooden letterpress print blocks, btw, were an earlier find, which spell out my name, my husband's, and our daughter's.
I got this vintage schoolroom desk at a yard sale for $10 when we first bought our house. We were out on a cruiser ride around the neighborhood at the time, and I was so excited at the find that we had to race home, get the car and some cash, and race back so as not to lose it. It has proved to be a perfect arts and crafts desk for the Q.
I was looking for wooden crates, to hold Q's toys and books, at the antique mart when I came across this Hong Kong-labeled shipping crate. Couldn't resist.

I covet the crate and desk. Where is that amazing chair where you painted an elephant on?

Love your corner view today. But now I am feeling really O.L.D. - I used that kind of desk in school: it was the only kind we had. Now it's considered an antique? Woe is me: child of the '60s.

Happy Corner View day.

Yoli, the chair is in her room but it tends to get buried. It will eventually have a better place.

Conny - note I said "vintage" not "antique"...and of course "vintage" these days denotes anything from another decade ;) I think we had those seats in one of my first grade classrooms too.

Pretty Mommy, yup. The Stella. I had a little paroxism when that jacket came out and jumped through hoops to get one. I am still very glad I did.

Wonderful repurposed treasures. Forgive me for sounding forward, but I want to visit your house and see more!

I adore old typeface drawers and letterpress print blocks, too, and I'm always picking up random letters at junk shops and flea markets. I just can't resist.

Lovely post, Maia!

So cool. All 3 of your items were things my parents had in the house when I was growing up.

Love that old desk! Good find , and the crate as well, much like one we have, filled with books including Madeline and the gypsies!
Your words on imaginative play were really interesting, thank you.

I also love typeface drawers. The original ones are very difficult to find, at least in this country, and I have one imitation. The edible (cheerio) neckless is very cute.
