Images via littlenest.comI almost wish I didn't know about these, but....OMF, can you stand it? As a very nearly otaku devotée of classic modern seating, the attraction of these is intoxicating for me.
Based in Australia, little nest makes replicas of the famous originals, reduced to child-size. Suitable for ages 2-12.

All photos by G. HaldnerSo, I said I was going to make an announcement about a new Etsy shop that my Swiss friend was opening, and....tada! It's ready!
How cute are these hats and booties?
I never seem to have any luck with my Etsy shop links...not sure what my problem is, but I just can't make them work. So here's what you do: go to etsy.com and type "swissmiss51's shop" into the search bar. Her store is called GeeBits, and I made the banner (just had to brag a little).

This post is in memory of the solid week of white bloom we had before the weekend's spring blizzard felled them where they bloomed. After two feet of snow and temps near zero, all this finery is now just a memory - the white blossoms that tossed and billowed in the warm breeze just a few days ago turned to yellow parchment bundles, the pink ones burnt black with frost. Nevertheless, I have to concede that our white bloom this year was longer than I've seen since we've lived in Denver. Most years, the white trees, which always bloom first - just a little too early for Colorado spring - usually manage only a day of tentative bloom before being snowed into oblivion. March is typically the heaviest snow month here in our fair state. So on balance, we were lucky...and fortunately, I took my opportunity and took about a zillion photos while the trees were in bloom.

Friday

I've had a regular babysitter this week for a couple of hours a day (she's wonderful. Sadly, she's moving to Aspen tomorrow) which has afforded me a little extra studio time. I was doing some practice sketching when I came up with this one, that I particularly like. This was inspired (for those of you who don't know it) by the photos and clothing designs of Charlotte at VDJ. The clothes and photos are inspired by the beautifully minimalist style of her sisters, Jeanne and Clemence. The blog is a daily stop of mine and always provides some inspiration.
Because this sketch was inspired by Charolotte's artistry, I owe the inspiration to her, and this sketch is not for sale - just a page in my sketchbook of which I'm fond. She was nice enough to give me permission to post it.
Thursday
Wednesday

It only costs $45 a year.
This may be part of the reason for our feeling that we had the place to ourselves.
Sure, we have our "weekends" in the middle of the week, thanks to my husband's odd work schedule - so granted, most museums are less crowded when we visit.
But on this particular grey Thursday in mid-March, we practically had the place to ourselves once we'd purchased our (very affordable) family membership. Hence the feeling of having a very chic second home in the heart of trendy LoDo.
(Please, no one bother coming here...very boring. Don't bother. Really, it isn't worth the trip.)
As for me, membership clutched in my hot little hand, I am already picturing languid summer afternoons in our new home, staging photo shoots with Q in the roof gardens when the light is good, exploring the latest exhibits at our leisure, running up and down the stark corridors, and watching the Q come up with new and revolutionary things to do with yarn in the "idea box".
Ah, luxury.
For the record, I was actually hesitant to write this post, lest I expose this incredible space to the interested public, and ruin our private "second home" feeling. But, on balance...I have to share. This place is amazing, and I'm proud of our city for fostering such a brilliant venue.
