The snapshot with QQ examining your toes is interesting. Is she admiring (i.e. does she want her own version of) Mommy's toenail polish?
Maxine has recently shown a fascination with Debra's nail polish, and will produce a bottle of polish and demand to be "prettied", finger- and toenails both. It is her one "girly-girl" trait, so far.
Don't feel too bad! I bought a new sewing machine LAST SUMMER! It has been out of the box for some time but I have not even figured out how to thread it. Your photos are very lovely. QQ will really treasure them when she's grown.
John, she likes to point out feet. I'm really not sure what that's all about, but it seems to be a family/ bonding thing. When we're all three taking a walk together, she'll stop in her tracks and point to all three of our pairs of feet in turn, glancing up and waiting for me to say "Mommy's feet, daddy's feet, QQ's feet!" It seems to make her happy. As for the girly things...nope, no interest in nail polish yet. Or clothes. She does like to steal mommy's necklace, wedding rings and watch, however.
Caterina, I think the threading issue would have broken me, if it weren't for the fact that my mother taught me how to thread a sewing machine in about 3rd grade, and I discovered that that knowledge was still buried - nearly intact - somewhere in the depths of my brain. Amazing!
I love counting the feet. There's a moral there, somewhere. One that seems to please little girls.
Maxine loves to wear her mommy's jewelry, or mine, or any she can get her little hands on. But it doesn't seem to be about preening, but rather a sort of jackdaw acquisitiveness for shiny objects.
She REALLY wants my wedding ring because of the size and glitter of it, and I constantly have to explain that it's the "love ring" mommy gave me and because of that it's special. She seems skeptical, but is content with that so far.
