Photo: The Sartorialist

I don't often comment on a fashion photo, and it's likely that I've never posted one on my blog before. It isn't that I don't look at fashion - oh, I do! I appreciate fashion in a way almost similar to the way I love good architecture (although definitely less than chairs, which are my great love affair). But I saw this one on The Sartorialist while idly browsing blogs this morning, and stopped dead in my tracks.

I remember seeing a full-page ad in a magazine for GossipGirl...we don't have cable, so I had never seen the show, but the ad struck me as funny. It was two lovely youngsters kissing in the back of a limo (shades of my apallingly misspent youth), and over the glossy was printed, in enormous white caps, the letters "OMFG". Now, that was an ad. Someone should be patted on the back for that one. When I saw this photo, it was those same caps that scrolled through my head...OMFG.

I happen to know that this photo must be from the Jazz Age Lawn Party that takes place on NY's historical Governor's Island. I know this because in my secret heart I long to attend that party (though my days in NY are few and precious in recent years). It's a brilliant idea, a brilliant event, and a brilliant location. But as for this guy? Whoever he is, and whatever he does when he's not doing this, I take my hat off to him, because when it comes to fashion this is - to my mind - simply perfection.

I agree, perfection. And I want to go to that party as well. So badly.

I want to attend that party so bad... Next year? Maybe?! Love Jazz age. Love that car! And, agreed, that guy is pure perfection.
