Wednesday

I have been having fun making little dioramas on the cabinet in our mud room for the past year or so. Recently, I've been making this bunny diorama for Q.
Q is obsessed with bunnies lately. It is possibly her second favorite thing after basketballs.
She is delighted with my little paper play, and is at this very moment showing it off to her babysitter.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, but it has been a lot of fun to make!

Maia is that the Q you drew? It is a lovely thing to do this for her. Handmade things made from your Mom are the things children treasure and adults cherish.

Oh how I wish you could teach me to do this...I have no artistic talent whatsoever....but I am proud of the princess crown I made for the crumb last week! :)

I love it! The bunnies are great. I spent a lot of time sewing bunnies last Christmas - it was a bit of an obsession for a while! I can understand why your daughter loves them so .....but basketballs????

How wonderful!
A miniature of Q!
It reminds me Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's The little prince. Q does possess characters of an adventurer ...
I'm dreaming ... expedition of Q in Africa ... Q inside the pictures taken by your mother ...

You're going to keep it for her because it's awesome and she will want it someday!

Oh, Maia, this is the cutest! You'll have to get another table in there because you mustn't take this down!

Beautiful bunny diorama! It looks utterly enchanting (or should that be 'enchanted'!) by candlelight. You and Q together obviously make a very good team :)

It is fabulous! I wish I could be that creative and artistic it is such a wonderful gift. Q will treasure it and the memories forever. I wish I lived in Colorado, I would beg you for lessons. My children are grown but now come the grandchildren. Jonah would love it and better yet he would never want to leave me!

Yoli, it's a sylized Q, yes. I was gratified that she was thrilled by it!

Mel - when are you going to post a picture of your crumb in that crown? I was on your blog hoping for one today ;)

Di - I sewed one large, flop-eared patchwork bunny by hand for her before she came home, but I am no seamstress and although it came out lovely it took me so long that I have not repeated the task!

Alliot, there is something "petit prince" about the stance now that you mention it. NO suprise since that book was a BIG part of my childhood!

Maia, yes, I will do my best to preserve it. I'm not the most organized person on earth, however.

Stacie, thanks! The votives were fun, though a very ginger task around all that vintage paper ;)

Kickcan and Conkers, I take that as a great compliment, coming from you!

Modsquad, maybe I can just fold it carefully...we're not exactly rolling in extra space around here!

Gigi thanks! YOu're sweet!

Sakurasnow, we do make a good team, for which I am endlessly grateful! My mum and I were a good team and I was hoping I would have the same with my own daughter!

Charlie, I'm sure you could do it! Not a huge amount of skill involved, just imagination and patience! I spent one late night on it.

Jen, you daughter is a lucky one as well....all the places she will see in this world!

Mom-FRiday, Thank you! I had fun with it!

Anna - a diy was actually on my mind! Maybe something paper doll-style.

Ribambins - you read my mind! I have had paper dolls on the brain lately. Still working out the details, but I even bought a set of vintage ones recently as a construction model. I think it's going to be fun, if I can just carve out the time to design it!

Sabine, I particularly enjoyed making the bunnies...they took on a life of their own after a while!

I love what you did for Q and I imagine her little hands playing with the paper figurines. It's a beautiful gift.
